Welcome to Faith Family Christian Center

A place where you can truly come as you are and be loved.

Whether you are investigating the claims of Christianity or you already have a strong and vital relationship with Jesus Christ, Faith Family is a place you can call home. We welcome a casual atmosphere where people are at home in a T-shirt and jeans or wearing their "Sunday go to meeting" best.

We believe that Jesus Christ has provided a way for people to live with peace and hope, even in a world where there seems to be neither . . . We would love to help you experience the hope that only He can give.

Come join us this weekend at Faith Family Christian Center
and discover the God you are looking for!

1 Tim. 6:11-12 KJV

But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. [12] Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

I quote the King James Version of Paul’s exhortation to Timothy this morning because it gives to us three verbs that begin with the letter F, which can be an aid to help us remember the admonition. Flee, follow, fight. The child of God should be about these three on a daily basis. Flee, follow, fight.

Paul told Timothy there is a time to run. He said we should flee false teaching and quarreling over controversial opinions. He said we should flee the desire to get rich and to have a lot of things that we really don’t need. In 2 Timothy 2:22 Paul is going to tell us again to flee youthful lusts. There are times that the very best thing we can do is run away from temptation – just as Joseph fled from Potiphar’s wife when she tempted him. Flee.

But, while it is true that there are things that we should not be involved in as Christ followers, Christianity is far from being a list of things not to do. There are some very positive actions that we are to take in our Christian walk. While flee may have negative connotations, Paul gives a positive action to take instead. Follow! Follow righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. The newer translations all use the word pursue for follow. Pursue righteousness . . . pursue godliness . . . etc. When I read the word pursue a couple of things come to my mind. First, I think of the way that I prefer to hunt elk. I really enjoy tracking them through the woods – finding a set of fresh tracks and following them until I find the elk. Some people like to sit and wait for the elk to walk out to where they are, but I am more into pursing their tracks until I find them. The second thing that comes to my mind when I read the word pursue is the cop movies we have watched over the years. There was time when every movie about police work had at least one high speed pursuit through a major city during rush hour . . . and of course, the cops would eventually get their man because they would not give up the pursuit until they had him. Paul said that is the way we are to follow after Jesus Christ – pursue him . . . pursue his nature . . . pursue the presence of the Holy Spirit in order to appropriate for ourselves the fruit of the Spirit on a daily basis. The fact that you are reading this page today indicates that you are pursuing the things of the Lord.

Flee, follow, and Fight. Fight the good fight of faith. Paul told the Ephesians that we are in a war. Satan is out to do what he can to detour us from following Christ. Satan is at work to undermine our faith with doubt and disobedience. Paul wanted to make sure we understand that fact. We are in a fight – but it is a fight that we can win because greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world! Our Savior has given to us the weapons and the armor that we need to withstand the attack of our enemy. We can be more than conquerors through him. So be alert. Be diligent. Be a member of Paul’s F-troop. We flee, we follow and we fight in the name of Jesus.
