Welcome to Faith Family Christian Center

A place where you can truly come as you are and be loved.

Whether you are investigating the claims of Christianity or you already have a strong and vital relationship with Jesus Christ, Faith Family is a place you can call home. We welcome a casual atmosphere where people are at home in a T-shirt and jeans or wearing their "Sunday go to meeting" best.

We believe that Jesus Christ has provided a way for people to live with peace and hope, even in a world where there seems to be neither . . . We would love to help you experience the hope that only He can give.

As I read the story of Jeremiah today along with what God had said to Isaiah in chapter 6 of his book, I definitely see the fulfillment of what the Lord had told Isaiah . . . “be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving . . .” The people that Jeremiah ministered to didn’t seem to be able to understand. They were so bent on doing life their way that even when God gave them a clear word of instruction with the promise of blessing and protection, they could not receive it.

Jeremiah said

Jeremiah 42:19-20 (NIV)

. . .' Be sure of this: I warn you today [20] that you made a fatal mistake when you sent me to the Lord your God and said, 'Pray to the Lord our God for us; tell us everything he says and we will do it.'

In the first part of the chapter the people had come to Jeremiah and pled with him to find out what the will of God for them was . . . they told Jeremiah we will do whatever he says – so just tell us the truth. Ten days went by before Jeremiah felt that he had a clear word from the Lord. The promise of the Lord was protection and provision if they would remain right where they were. . . . but that is not what they wanted to hear. Looking around at the circumstances as they were they could not see anything but destruction, famine and death. Someone had brought them a report that life in Egypt was really good. There was no war there – there was no recession there — jobs were plentiful — they believed that the life of comfort that they desired could only be found by leaving the circumstances that they were in. And even though every prophecy that Jeremiah has given to this point in time has come to pass, these people make the decision to . . . (I guess that is tomorrow’s reading)

The lesson – it is not what we do not know about the will of God that is our biggest problem – it is what we do know and choose not to do. Knowing the will of God comes with an obligation and responsibility to do it! The will of God does not come with a democratic process which allows popular opinion to determine the course. Failure to do what we know to be God’s will leads to consequences . . .

The amazing thing to me is how many times the people of Jerusalem voted against what Jeremiah told them – how many times people literally lost their lives – and yet they continued to vote to ignore the Word of the Lord.

I am motivated to pray, Lord, please help me to have an ear to hear – Lord open my eyes that I may see you instead of my circumstances – Lord help me to trust you more than my own instincts . . . help me to embrace your words no matter what is going on around me. Thank you, Lord, for the fact that you have a plan for me that includes giving me a hope and a future. . .so I will follow you!
