Suggested Readings To Read Through The Bible In A Year
Monday February 22, 2010 Leviticus 9-10 and Hebrews 2
We have been in the book of Leviticus now for a few days. In this book we get to read the requirements that God gave to Moses regarding the sacrifices that were to be made so that the people of God could properly worship Him. In our reading today in chapters 9 and 10 it becomes very clear that God was very serious about the requirements. Aaron lost two sons in an unauthorized worship service! God made it very clear that worship is all about Him and his glory!
Yesterday we began reading the New Testament book of Hebrews. This book stands in direct contrast to what we read in Leviticus because it is all about how Jesus came to bring and to be a better way. Our salvation is found in Jesus. We no longer have to approach God with sacrifices of bulls, lambs and goats. We no longer are afraid of being struck dead when we come to worship. Jesus came and made a better way, . . . and thank God for that way!
Part of my reason to zero in on "the better way" is to apologize for the lack of postings on this site last week. It is my normal practice to use my laptop to prepare and post the devotions. In recent weeks that laptop has become increasingly slower in the way that it functions. So, I decided it was time to see if something could be done to make it better. To make a long story short, the laptop has been in the shop since last Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately, it is taking a little longer than anticipated to transfer data from the old hard drive to the new one . . . but with four times more hard drive space and four times more RAM . . . I am looking forward to a much "better way" when it comes to preparing the devotional thoughts and using the Bible software that I have on my laptop. Hopefully today is the day it gets completed and I can return to my normal morning routine.
Have a blessed day!
